Why would I want to gain more followers?
ReplyDeleteAs probably one of the only college students to not have social media at all, including instagram, I find it interesting that this is such a concern these days. Does the number of followers you have directly reflect how "cool" you are online? I have the same question as Carl, why would I want more followers? Do I really have to make a schedule to arrange when I can and can't put a picture up to correlate how many friends are going to "like" it and thus result in how many people "follow me?" I feel like Instagram could be an awesome distraction, but are people interested in dedicating this much time and effort into something like this?!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we'll see a followup blog post which answers this burning question. I read a recent blog post (which unfortunately I cannot find) which said that an excessive concern with likes and followers fit the DSM definition of co-dependency.
ReplyDeleteI think this post would be helpful for people who do want to gain more followers. Some people clearly do not believe that it is important thing to have, but to others, it gives them a sense pride and recognition. Some people want to get followers because they use it as type of picture diary (if that's what you want to call it), and others just use it for pure enjoyment. In addition, a lot of average people use tips like this to gain more followers if they are in the process of starting some sort of company or business.
ReplyDeleteWhy do some people gain pride from a large number of followers?
DeleteWhy do you need followers in order to use it as a type of picture diary?
Personally I found this piece to be a cool way to understand why some people get more likes than others. I liked the way that you layed out simple ways for people to get more likes. I think people who are interested in gaining more likes would find this to be helpful.
ReplyDeleteI know people who buy their followers on Instagram so they can receive more likes on their pictures. I am going to show them this blog post.
